Video import/export via Ethernet

I am surprised to find that video import/export is only supported via USB stick devices with limited capacity making it time consuming and fiddly having to repeatedly plug/unplug the stick into STB and PC to transfer recordings.

I would have thought it would have been better to utilise the underused Ethernet port to allow for high speed transfers over the network.

Either the STB could act as a Network storage device allowing direct connection to the internal hard disk or more likely act as a Web server allowing access via a web browser for uploads/downloads.

A web interface could also allow access to most of the control functions of the box allowing users to move/rename.delete recorded programs and set up new recording schedules without disrupting other family members currently watching programs.

I realise that new function is unlikely to be added to the existing range of boxes but I would look for such functionality when considering future purchases

    Dear Bob,

Thanks for your great contribution in our ideas section!

As you already anticipated it won't be possible to add this feature to the current ranges but we are glad to inform you that we have planned to add a variety of ways to allow improved data sharing and editing, including sophisticated DLNA technology!

The new units will be release within the next few months and we will keep our Community members informed about the specs.

Once again thank you very much for your detailed suggestion. This Community has been implemented to allow the feedback / idea exchange between us and our customers and it is therefore great to see such constructive contribution.

    Kind regards,

    Donald
